Changes: Master Bedroom Edition

I’ve decided to start a new series to show how the teeniest, tiniest changes can make the biggest impacts. Decorating and making updates in your home doesn’t have to be costly or even extreme. Some of the changes we’ve made here are even renter-friendly as long as you remember to change everything back before your lease ends of course. I wanted to start with the master bedroom because this was the first space in our home that we started to make updates in.

Floor Vent Cover Grille

Initially I planned on spray painting the old vent cover with my trusty matte black spray paint, but the cover was so rusted and beat up I didn’t feel like putting in the energy to salvage it. So I turned to Bae (aka Amazon.com) to find a whole new cover. Amazon has a ton of affordable options available in all colors and sizes, and after a quick search I narrowed it down to two options. I was torn between the brushed nickel floor cover, or the “cast iron look” matte black. I went with the black because…uhhh black is beautiful duh and the 2 x 12 size was the perfect fit. It was simple to use my claws and pop out the old cover and drop in the new one.

If you’re in the market for a new floor or ceiling cover make sure you measure the INSIDE or your opening to get the exact measurement.

Electrical Sockets and Wall Plates

We plan to update the electrical outlets, light switches and wall plates in every room in our home. The master bedroom was the first room to get modernized. I also went with screwless wall plates. Personally, I like the more seamless look of these over traditional wall plates.

Ceiling Fan

Pardon the dust in the first photo (disgusting), but as you can see, the original ceiling fan was outdated and just plain fugly. Switching out the ceiling fan was one of the first things we did in the room and it made an immediate impact. Making small and inexpensive updates such as these can easily refresh your space. What simple yet impactful updates do you make in your home?
