Hey There Laundry Room Plans

Laundry-room-snapshot.jpg

First project alert! We've started design plans on our tiny laundry room and I'm so ready to tackle this space. The laundry room has been pretty neglected for a few years and outside of washing our clothes, this room has also become the dumping ground for unwanted junk, cleaning supplies, oh and did I mention this area also serves as our pantry! There's a lot going on in this small space and we desperately need to create a practical and organized area that doesn't feel cramped or crowded (and doesn't have me bumping into everything at every turn).

Flooring: Matte black tiles in an unconventional shape and at a great price = yes please! I was torn between hexagon or this shape picket, but since I’ve been seeing A LOT of hexagon being used in other homes, I decided to go with a shape that I haven’t seen very often. Picket was the winner!

Wallpaper: After being immersed in the wonderful world of wallpaper I found a very soft and elegant pattern from Anthrolopogie. I still haven’t decided where to apply this beaut, but she (yes the wallpaper is a female) must go somewhere! Decisions, Decisions. Plot twist: this will be my first time working with wallpaper.

Closed Storage: Currently the laundry/junk/pantry/hoarder room has open shelving and as much as I love open shelves I'm seeing first-hand that they're not ideal in this room *side eyes junk piling up*. We need doors and drawers to hide laundry and cleaning supplies, toiletries and general household items.

Lighting: Goodbyeee boob light, hellooo not boob light! A flush mount light was really our only option here. We have low ceilings in our home (8 ft), we’re a tallish family (6’1 - Josh and 5’7 1/2 - Josalyn) and the light is positioned on a slanted ceiling.

Water Heater Closet: A DIY project for hiding the elephant in the room. The *insert expletives* water heater. Although this thing is huge and such an eyesore, it works hard, so there’s no plans to replace it anytime soon. For now, we’ll just hide it.
