Howdy Ho, Winslow! Welcome to Hey There Toots

Welcome to Hey There Toots (pronounced “toots” as in ‘tootsie”), welcome to our home and welcome to what will hopefully be the start of a beautiful and long-term e-friendship! My name is Josalyn and I live in Virginia where I'm a mother, a full-time marketing professional, graduate student, borderline homebody and now I can add occasional blogger to my repertoire. I live for a good before and after, room reveal, and budget-friendly DIY project, especially when those ‘ohh ahh’ moments happen right here in the small home I share with my boyfriend, Josh (#NavyBae) and our beautifully blended family.

Our 3-bedroom, 1 bath home was built in the 1950's. Josh recently bought this house from his parents who owned it before us, and he and his parents really put a lot of work into making cosmetic updates, like installing new flooring, building a custom deck, and doing a complete overhaul on the bathroom. Overall the home has great bones which means we'll be spending more of our time, efforts and money toward the rooms/areas that could use a lot more love and attention.

Of course with a new (old) home we'll need to ensure the space fits our lifestyle and personal needs (i.e., making space for Josh's growing shoe collection in a home with tiny closets). There will always be challenges when renovating and decorating on a budget, but the beauty of home is that small updates can make huge impacts in the long run. I love adding rugs with fun patterns to rooms, switching out doorknobs, adding a fresh coat of paint to walls and rearranging furniture to better fit the space. In addition to these minor changes we'll of course have to address the bigger renovation projects on our extensive to-do list (I’m looking at you kitchen).

We already have tons of ideas and I'm literally pinning inspo photos like a mad woman (#inspogasms). I can't wait to get started on transforming our space and I hope you'll join us on this crazy renovation ride.
